Yoga Deep Dive Arm Balances and Inversions Workshop

Sound Familiar?

You've Been Practicing — But Something Feels Missing

You watch others float into crow pose or kick up into headstand and wonder — what am I missing?

Maybe you've tried muscling your way into arm balances only to feel unstable, frustrated, or worried about your wrists. Maybe inversions feel intimidating and you're not sure where to even begin.

The truth is, arm balances and inversions require more than arm strength. They ask for shoulder stability, deep core integration, coordinated breath, and an understanding of how to distribute weight with awareness.

Without the foundational knowledge, you're building on shaky ground. This workshop changes that.

What You'll Explore

A Thoughtful, Anatomy-Based Approach

We slow things down and explore the foundations that make these shapes feel stable and sustainable in the body.

🔍 We'll Break Down

  • ✦ Plank & chaturanga mechanics
  • ✦ Scapular stability & shoulder positioning
  • ✦ Core engagement that supports lift
  • ✦ Hip placement & energetic direction
  • ✦ Breath regulation under challenge

💡 You'll Learn How To

  • ✦ Load wrists & shoulders safely
  • ✦ Use props and walls effectively
  • ✦ Build strength progressively
  • ✦ Enter & exit poses with control
  • ✦ Cultivate steadiness over force

🌿 What Shifts

Inversions shift perspective — physically and mentally. When the head lowers below the heart, the body responds. Together, we'll explore how to breathe steadily and build confidence within that response.

Strength builds, yes — but so does trust. And that trust carries beyond the mat.

Meet Your Guide

Led by Mallory Riess

I'm deeply passionate about the spiritual roots of yoga and equally fascinated by the intelligent mechanics of the body. This workshop is where those two worlds meet.

My biggest intention is to encourage you to get on your mat, connect with your body, and take the lessons you learn there into your everyday life. Arm balances and inversions are a beautiful vehicle for building not just physical strength — but self-trust.

I teach at Love Roots Yoga Shala in Wrightwood, CA and online through the Spirit & Wellness Collective.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

I can't do any arm balances or inversions yet — is this for me?
Absolutely — this is exactly who this workshop is designed for. We're not here to perform perfect poses. We're here to build the correct neural pathways, understand the anatomy, and develop the foundational strength that will carry you toward these postures safely and sustainably. You do not need to have a specific pose mastered. What supports this work most is patience and a willingness to explore.
What level of yoga experience do I need?
This workshop is ideal for practitioners with some yoga experience who are curious about going deeper. If you're comfortable with basic poses like plank, downward dog, and warrior sequences, you'll be well-prepared. The focus is on understanding mechanics and building awareness — not on achieving advanced shapes.
What should I bring?
Bring your yoga mat, water, and an open mind. Props will be available at the studio, but feel free to bring your own blocks or straps if you have favorites. Wear comfortable clothing that allows full range of movement.
How long is the workshop?
The workshop runs for 2 hours — from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm on Sunday, March 29. This gives us ample time to explore anatomy, practice drills, work on poses, and integrate everything with intention.
Where exactly is Love Roots Yoga Shala?
We're located at 1329 Hwy 2, 2nd Floor, Wrightwood, CA. It's a beautiful, intimate studio space perfect for this kind of focused, intentional work.
