Yoga Foundations Workshop

A Workshop Made For Beginners

Curious About Yoga, But Nervous to Step Into a Class?

If you've ever felt intimidated walking into a yoga class because you don't know the poses, the lingo, or where to even begin — this workshop was created for you.

Yoga Foundations is a supportive, welcoming space where we slow things down and break everything apart so it actually makes sense. No judgment, no pressure to keep up, no expectation that you'll know what "downward dog" means before you arrive.

Together we'll explore common yoga poses, proper alignment, breathing techniques, and how a typical class flows — so the next time you walk into a studio, you'll feel prepared, capable, and confident.

You'll learn how to make poses work for your unique body and have plenty of space to ask questions along the way.

Meet Your Guide

Led by Mallory Riess

I remember exactly what it felt like to walk into my first yoga class — unsure of what to do, where to look, or whether I was "doing it right." That's why I love teaching beginners: I want yoga to feel approachable from the very first breath.

In this workshop, my biggest intention is to make yoga feel doable, welcoming, and yours. There are no silly questions, no expectations, and no comparisons — just a chance to learn at your own pace in a supportive environment.

I teach through the Spirit & Wellness Collective and look forward to practicing with you.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

I've never done yoga before — is this really for me?
Yes! This workshop was specifically designed for people who have never tried yoga or feel intimidated to begin. We'll start from the very beginning and build from there. Zero experience required.
I'm not flexible at all. Will I be able to keep up?
Absolutely. Flexibility is not a prerequisite for yoga — and you don't need it to enjoy this workshop. We'll explore how to make every pose work for your body, regardless of where you're starting.
What should I bring?
Bring a yoga mat (if you have one), water, and comfortable clothing you can move freely in. Props will be available, but feel free to bring blocks or a strap if you have them.
What if I have questions during the workshop?
Please ask! Questions are encouraged and welcomed. This is a learning environment designed to help you feel confident — there's no such thing as a silly question here.
What if I have an injury or physical limitation?
Please let me know in advance so I can offer modifications and alternatives that support your body. Yoga should feel good — and we'll work together to make sure it does.
Will I be ready to attend a regular yoga class after this?
That's the goal! By the end of the workshop, you'll understand the most common poses, basic alignment, breathing techniques, and how a class typically flows — so you can walk into any studio feeling prepared and confident.
