What This Workshop Is About

This Is Not About Forcing Yourself Deeper Into a Pose

It's about understanding how your body moves so your practice can feel better and support you over time.

Maybe your twists feel stuck or shallow. Maybe you're unsure if you're rotating safely or just cranking through the movement. Maybe you've been practicing for a while but still feel like something isn't clicking.

The truth is, twisting well requires more than flexibility. It asks for an understanding of how the spine and core work together, how to create space through alignment and breath, and how to move with awareness instead of guessing.

We'll break things down in a simple, approachable way so you can move with more clarity and confidence — whether you're in class or practicing on your own. This workshop changes that.

In This 2-Hour Deep Dive

🌿 What Shifts

When you understand how to work with your body, depth happens naturally — and your practice becomes something that supports you, rather than something you push through.

You'll walk away with clarity, confidence, and tools you can apply immediately — on and off the mat.

Why This Matters

Twisting Isn't Just About How a Pose Looks

It plays an important role in how your body functions and feels over time. A healthy twisting practice helps:

🌀 Maintain Mobility

Keep your spine healthy and mobile

🧘 Support Core & Posture

Strengthen the foundation of how you hold yourself

🌱 Move Well for Life

Improve everyday movement and age with confidence

This is about longevity — feeling good in your body now and continuing to feel good in the years to come.

The focus is on learning, not rushing.

Meet Your Guide

Led by Mallory Riess

I'm deeply passionate about the spiritual roots of yoga and equally fascinated by the intelligent mechanics of the body. This workshop is where those two worlds meet.

My biggest intention is to encourage you to get on your mat, connect with your body, and take the lessons you learn there into your everyday life. Twisting is a beautiful vehicle for building not just physical mobility — but self-awareness and trust.

I teach at Love Roots Yoga Shala in Wrightwood, CA and online through the Spirit & Wellness Collective.

If you're ready to feel more ease, build strength, and move in a way that supports your body for the long term, we'd love to have you.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

I'm not very flexible — is this workshop for me?
Absolutely. This workshop isn't about how deep you can twist — it's about understanding how your body moves so you can work with it, not against it. We'll meet you exactly where you are and give you tools to build from there. Flexibility is not a prerequisite; curiosity and willingness are.
What level of yoga experience do I need?
This workshop is designed for all levels. Whether you're newer to yoga or have been practicing for years, the focus is on understanding mechanics and building awareness — not on achieving advanced shapes. If you're comfortable with basic poses like seated twists and warrior sequences, you'll be well-prepared.
What should I bring?
Bring your yoga mat, water, and an open mind. Props will be available at the studio, but feel free to bring your own blocks or straps if you have favorites. Wear comfortable clothing that allows full range of movement.
How long is the workshop?
The workshop runs for 2 hours — from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Sunday, April 26. This gives us ample time to explore anatomy, practice drills, work through twisting techniques, and integrate everything with intention.
Where exactly is Love Roots Yoga Shala?
We're located at 1329 Hwy 2, 2nd Floor, Wrightwood, CA. It's a beautiful, intimate studio space perfect for this kind of focused, intentional work.
Will I be able to use what I learn after the workshop?
Yes! One of the main goals of this workshop is to give you practical tools and drills you can take with you — into your regular classes and your home practice. You'll leave with a deeper understanding of your body and actionable techniques you can apply right away.
