Luscious Lemon-Lavender Soap
Luscious Lemon-Lavender Soap

Lathering yourself up with a yummy soap, simply makes a shower or bath!

Here's a super easy DIY that not only smells AH-mazing, but the ingridents will nourish and add to your skin's health.  Our skin is our largest organ and our first line of defense when it comes to health and wellness.  As one of our detoxification organs it is important to keep your pours open and breathing.  When our pours are clogged it doesn't allow toxins to leave the body and that's definitely not what we want.  Being aware of what we put on our skin is one of the best and easiest things we can do to support our everyday health.

In this DIY we use a Shea Butter Soap base which is not only a wonderful cleanser, but will nourish your skin and add moisture to help with its elasticity.  For some gentle exfoliation a natural loofa is placed in the middle of the soap mold to cleanse away dead skin cells from the pours to help your skin breath with more ease.  Finally we add in essential oils Lavender and Lushious Lemon Blend to bring an even deep layer a health and wellness to the skin.  Lavender is a gentle cleanser and healer for the skin, the Lushious Lemon Blend contains Lemon, Lemon Myrtle, and Ylang Ylang for cleansing along with Speramint and Eucalyptus Globulus to invigorate the skin. Young Living is my favorite company to get my essential oils from because they own all of their own farms and distilleries so everything is done in house with ethical practices honoring Mother Earth, our health, and all of their employees which is very important to me as a consumer.

I also added in some dried lavender flowers I had hanging for extra healing, aroma, and asticies, add them if you've got them but they're not necessary if you've added in the Lavender Essential Oil.

So, without further ado here's how you can make your own soap right at home that you know is safe for even for the most sensitive skin and will cleanse away the dirt and grime you don't want while leaving the good oils and microbes we do want!

Here's what you'll need:

2lb Shea Butter Soap base
(should make ~6 bars of soap using the same molds I have linked below)
          Snag it on amazon here

Round Soap Mold + Loofa
Another amazon find you can get here

Lavender Essential Oil & Lushious Lemon Essential Oil

How to Make your Lucious Lemon-Lavender Soap

Step 1 - Gather your supplies including Lavender Flowers if you're adding them

Step 2 - Cut your loofa into 1" sections and place one section in each mold

Step 3 - Cut your soap into 1`" cubes and melt them either in a double broiler or microwave
(If using the microwave melt in 30 second increments and stir inbetween. Make sure to keep an eye on the soap so it doesn't boil over in the microwave)

Step 4 - Once the soap is melted add in dried lavender if using and stir then add in 30 drops each of Lavender and Lushious Lemon essential oils.  One of my favorite things about essential oils is that they are super flexible so you can always increase or decrease the amount of oil you add in depending on how fragrant you like your soap.

Step 5 - Pour soap mixture over loofas in your mold

Step 6 - allow to cool

Step 7 - When cooled pop out your soap and take a shower or bath!

Step 8 - Leave a comment and let me know what you think!

I'm so excited to see all the soaps you make so make sure to tag me on all social media platforms @Mallory.Riess.

HI THERE FRIEND, I'M MALLORY!

Thanks so much for stoping by my little space here on the web and listening to my story!  I can't wait to teach you everything I've learned over the years.

My biggest lesson has definitely been being a mom and it's still something I learn to navigate every day. As it turns out these little humans have a mind of their own, know what they want, and aren't afraid to whine at you until they get it, do ya feel me?  In Ashtanga Yoga we call parenting 7th series because it is the hardest practice of them all.  Now, I don't have a whole lot of parenting answers for you (still figuring all that out myself), but I can help with keeping your kids healthy! We want healthy kids because healthy kids are just happier kids and mama I know you want your kid to be happy just like I do.

When we first brought our son Eero home, I just felt lost.  He was colicky, gassy, had a serve case of torticollis, and was just an all around unhappy baby. Being a first time mom and confronted with all of this was HARD and compounded by my own emotional issues lead to my PPD.  The first 6 months of Eero's life was full of a lot of tears from both of us.

Then his first REAL cold hit and fever hit.  I didn't feel prepared and didn't know what to do to help him.  Everyone just kept telling me, oh just use Infant Tylenol and Ibuprofen, this just didn't sit right with me.  I knew all I was doing was masking the symptoms and not actually helping his body to heal.  My baby was in pain and I wanted to do everything I could to help his body be strong and fight. This lead me down a path of diving into natural remedies, learning how the body works, and ultimately empowered me as a mother to care for my babies.

Now I know what to do keep my babies healthy and I also have an abundance of tools to turn to when they are under the weather.  I know longer have that panicked feeling when Eero or Emma spike a fever, I know exactly what to and it is my mission to help every mama feel confident in taking care of their families. There is truly so much we can do when we understand how the body works, even in simple terms and I can't wait to share it all with you!

I'm here for you, through the up and downs, tears and smiles, I will be here to help uplift and encourage you. Know you are not alone, in fact there is a whole community of mamas waiting for you to join us and go against the status quo.  Our bodies are meant for health and our lives are meant for abundance.
